The Union minister of state for railways, Mr Adhir Chowdhury, said the railways would send representatives to meet the UNESCO oficials soon to dissuade them from doing away with the heritage status the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) has ben enjoying. Notably, the UNESCO had sounded concerned over the delay in restoring the DHR service between Siliguri and Kurseong that had been suspended in the aftrmath of landslides that ocurred around three yers ago causing extensive damage to the tracks.
